Pastoral Care here at St Luke’s Church, Sway
Many of us need a bit of extra help or prayer from time to time, or know of someone who does. If you’re new to Sway, or St Luke’s and don’t have regular contact with the church, we would still love to help if we can. Below are some contact details of people, who will do all they can to help you get the support you need.
Lay Visitors Co-ordinators
Our team of Lay Visitors support people with short or longer-term needs. Members of the community, as well as the church, receive regular visits from their assigned Lay Visitor, while that help is needed. If you know of neighbours who require this kind of support please contact Jenny Denman or Ian Burnham via our church office on 01590 682358, and we will arrange a visit to assess the need and discuss possible avenues of support.
Our small groups are central to the pastoral care within the church. If you would like to find out more about our small groups, including how to join one, please contact our Small Group Co-Ordinator: Chris Guinness, on email@example.com
If you, or a friend from church or the community has to go into hospital or a hospice for a period of time and would like a visitor from the church, please speak to your Small Group leader first (if applicable), or contact the Lay Visitor Co-ordinators (see above) or the Church Office 01590 682358.
Children & Families
Tricia Owen our Children & Families Worker, is part of our leadership team and has a lot of contact with families in Sway. She is part of our Pastoral Care structure and very happy to provide help where possible while drawing on support from others in the wider team. You can rieach Tricia through the church office on 01590 682358
Home Communions Co-ordinator
When ill or elderly Christians are not able to get to church, many appreciate the opportunity to take communion at home, administered by an approved member of the church. Mostly we take communion to members of St Luke’s, but if you have neighbours in the village who are not able to attend their usual church we would be very happy to serve them too.
Way Wardens Co-ordinator
A network of Way Wardens exists to ensure that everyone who moves into Sway receives a warm welcome. A welcome pack is delivered to their home, containing information about the many groups offered by the church and community.
However, we are great believers in the principle that ‘Two Welcomes are better than none!’ so please be proactive in welcoming anyone new to the village.
Way Wardens also deliver Easter and Christmas cards on behalf of St Luke’s Church.
Working in Partnership with others
As well as providing practical and spiritual help as a church, on occasions people need assistance from other caring organisations and professionals. We have good contact with various local and national charities as well as local counselling services, Social Services and the NHS whom we can call upon if required.
We are pleased to be able to offer care and support through a host of experienced and compassionate volunteers who belong to St Luke’s Church. Of course, if you need to get hold of the clergy directly, our contact details are:-
