Safeguarding

The parish of Sway, St Luke's, is committed to the safeguarding of children, young people and adults. We follow the House of Bishops guidance and policies and have our own Parish Safeguarding Officer (PSO). The Diocese of Winchester’s safeguarding pages contain vital links and information including contacts for the Diocesan Safeguarding Advisor (DSA) who advise our PSOs.

Safeguarding Children, Young People and Vulnerable Adults in our Church

St Luke’s Church recognises its responsibilites for the safeguarding of all children and young people under the age of 18 regardless of gender, ethnicity or ability, as set out in current Legislation.
Members of St Luke’s Church commit themselves to nurture, protect and safeguard all children and young people taking part in church actvites on or off site.
It is also our policy to support the safeguarding of all vulnerable adults, regardless of gender, race or religion, who may be at risk of abuse for example, the elderly, those living alone, the recently bereaved and adults with learning difficulties.

If you are concerned that a child or adult has been harmed or may be at risk of harm please contact our PSO or DSA. If you have immediate concerns about the safety of someone, please contact the police and your local authority Children or Adults Services.
